Carina Maria graduated from TEKO (Via University College) in Herning but has a strong craftsmanship background as a furniture upholsterer, which is evident in everyhting she creates. She has roots in the Danish furniture tradition and is at the same time heavily inspired by Japanese mode of expression, which she believes has many similarities with Scandinavian design.
